The published works consist of drafts and notes for two of Richter's works: The Human shore, and Virginia Woolf: the inward voyage, periodicals containing her poetry, and short stories. Among the unpublished works are manuscripts for two novels and a short story. There is also a presentation outline for a book based on the notebooks of her father, Conrad Richter. The classroom materials are collections of handwritten notes and source materials on various subjects in literature.

Richter, a noted writer of mainly novels of pioneer life in America, was born in Pennsylvania and lived part of his life in New Mexico.
